What to Wear for Your Varanasi Photoshoot
Choosing what to wear for your Varanasi shoot is more important than you might think. The city has a specific visual palette — ochre, red, gold, and the blue of the Ganga — and what you wear either complements it or clashes with it.

## Colours That Work Beautifully

**Deep reds and burgundies** — Especially in a silk saree, these command attention against the stone ghats.

**Mustard and saffron** — Absolutely stunning against the river and in the narrow lanes of the old city.

**Ivory and cream** — Classic, timeless, and works at any time of day.

**Deep blues and navy** — Creates a beautiful contrast with the warm tones of the ghats.

## What to Avoid

- Neon or electric colours — they're too harsh in natural light and clash with Varanasi's palette
- Stark white — reflects too much light, especially at midday
- Very busy patterns — the city itself is the pattern

## Fabric Considerations

Varanasi can be humid. Choose breathable fabrics — cotton or lightweight silk. Avoid thick synthetic fabrics that don't move well in the breeze.

## For Couple Shoots

Coordinate, don't match. If she's in a red saree, try a cream or navy kurta for him. Avoid identical colours — it looks staged.

## Our Tip

Bring two outfits if your session is 2+ hours. A traditional look for the ghat scenes, a more relaxed look for the old city lanes. The contrast in your gallery will be beautiful.
